Inside your world of wow…

So I re-upped my WoW account last night. I didn’t realize it, but it has been about 2 years or more since I last played my main character. At first I couldn’t remember how to play the character, but it all came back surprisingly fast. Now my only problem is really just that I can’t remember where things are. I am starting to find my way around a bit more easily, but it is annoying that I have to sit and think about where things are or fumble my way around until I figure it out. Oh well… I know where the important stuff is and the rest of it I am figuring out as I go.

There seems to have been lots of small improvements in the game since I last played, the most welcomed addition being voice chat. I haven’t tried it out yet, but it is great that it is now in-game. It also seems that my character is leveling a lot faster than in the past. Maybe it is two years worth of rested bonus! My character was a 45 when I picked it up last night, and now it is nearly a 47. That is a huge improvement over how long it took to reach 45 from 44. I remember thinking I would never make it to 45, and that was part of the reason we got tired of the game and quit playing (Sean was playing with me).

There also seems to be a bit less ganking since I was last in the game… or maybe I have just been lucky. I have been wandering around zones that were pretty much like bending over and asking for a ganking before, but now I have only been victimized twice and I am pretty sure it was the same asshole both times. There were a few other enemies that I passed that I could have ganked or fought with, but we would just mind our own business. That is much better than in the past!

So far I can’t decide if I am bored or enjoying myself. I think it would be more fun if I had someone to play with, but I don’t know anyone that is playing right now… at least not anyone that is playing alliance on my server, and I don’t feel like starting over as horde. If anyone has an alliance character please let me know… I can transfer to whatever server you are on. I am playing on Gul’dan at the moment, which is a high population server. I could probably even transfer for free if it is to a server with a lower population.

Once again I am suddenly finding myself awake well past midnight. I think that was one other reason I quit playing before. I can hear Sean snoring in the TV room. Guess I should go wake him up so we can both go to bed.

Update: Forget what I said about the ganking. It is as bad as ever.

Good news, we found the counters

We finally finished in the kitchen a few days ago, it feels great to finally have all the clutter off of our counters. They were so covered for the past week that I could barely see them, and now that they are clear of junk we continue to marvel at how shiny and mirror-like the granite is. It was also a relief to find that we have ample cabinet space, as we were a little worried about that. The only task remaining for the kitchen is to find some manner of spice rack for the pantry door.

Now that there are only a few odds and ends left downstairs, we are feeling pretty accomplished. Or at least, I was feeling that way until I looked in the computer room last night. There are still so many boxes in that small room that it is hard to navigate in there. Oh well, at least the rest of the house is somewhat orderly now. I think Sean and I are both kind of avoiding the computer room until we find desks anyway… so maybe we will just make the stacks of boxes a little more orderly for now.

The new grill I mentioned in the last post is great by the way, Sean made an excellent choice. We are loving the grill so much that we haven’t even cooked inside yet. Unfortunately it is supposed to rain all week though, so looks like we are going to break in the kitchen tonight. So far the only thing the oven has been used for was last night’s tasty cookie treat.

We also finally got the TV moved over this weekend, but still no cable or internet; that should come Sunday afternoon. Although Sean hooked up the PS3 last night for a much deserved break in housework, and played a little Grant Theft Auto. So I guess we at least have some form of entertainment in the house now… as long as you don’t mind sitting on the floor. We still don’t have any furniture! Although, we did order some for the living room (not the TV room) and it should be here Friday. So, at least we will have a place to sit and relax pretty soon. I am also hoping to find a futon or something for the TV room this weekend, but I am not sure how much time we will have for that between my grandfather’s out-of-town birthday party on Saturday, and the cable guy on Sunday.

Well, that is about all that is happening in our exciting lives at the moment… just continuing to settle into our new home and loving every minute of it.

Settling in…

We are enjoying our new house! Everything went well with the move, and I can’t tell you how much we appreciate all the help we received from our friends and family. Thanks to everyone’s help, the move went smoothly and everything made it to the new house safely.

There are still plenty of boxes sitting around, but we are working our way through it as fast as we can. We won’t have cable or internets for a couple weeks, so that will help us stay focused I guess. The first goal is the kitchen… I can’t wait until everything is in it’s place and we are able to start cooking again. I am getting so tired of eating out! I think we are down to just a couple more tubs for the kitchen though, so things are moving along nicely.

As we are settling in, we are finding lots of little things we need or want to improve. We have already been to Lowes about a dozen times since Friday, and somehow I think this is just the beginning. Our list of small improvements include adding a shelf in the laundry room; a caddy for the cabinet door under the kitchen sink; new shower heads; an under the sink trash can; a towel hook in the bathroom; locks for the gates; and tonight we will go back to Lowes for some garage shelves.

The best new addition is our grill! Sean picked one up today, I haven’t seen it yet. From what he has told me about it though, it is very nice. It is also very heavy… but luckily Wendell has volunteered to help us drag it out of Sean’s car tonight. Now I am excited to get home and see what he picked out; we have been looking forward to a new grill for a long time.

Next up on our list is furniture for the living room.   Last night we went by La-Z-Boy and picked out some furniture and colors we liked, and tomorrow their designer is supposed to come out and bring the swatches so we an see what the colors will look like in our house. She will also be able to give us some suggestions on arrangement, accessories, and paint colors. I am looking forward to getting a designer’s input on that… we have been struggling with the color for the fireplace accent wall, and it will be good to see if she has any furniture arrangement ideas we haven’t thought of.

Well, that is about all that is going on… just a lot of unpacking between trips to Lowes. I am looking forward to going home tonight; I just love being at our house, even if the only form of entertainment at the moment is unpacking boxes. This organizing, arranging, planning, and minor handy-work has been pretty fun!

We need a montage!

(yes, that is a Team America reference)

We are now officially home owners! Everything went well today. Our final inspection was at noon; the seller had cleaned out the house, and everything seemed to be in working order. The seller even left some pictures and things on the walls for us, which is good since we don’t have any. I am not sure we would have chosen any of the pictures he left… but it is better than blank walls until we find things we want to hang up.

After the inspection we headed to the lawyer’s office and ended up getting there about half an hour early. Not too long after we arrived, our agent arrived as well. It is nice that our agent is always early. So, by the time the seller and his agent showed up a bit past one o’clock we had already signed most of the paperwork. We were out of there about fifteen minutes later! I had expected the closing to take an hour or so from some of the comments I had heard, but it was all very fast and simple.

After the closing we headed back to the house to stock up the fridge for the people helping us move, then headed back to the apartment to meet Sean’s Aunt Lisa. With her help we moved some things over that we didn’t really want going in the moving truck (thanks, Lisa!).

After we had unpacked the vehicles, Dena came over and brought Jack with her. Jack was going nuts! He ran all over the house, up and down the stairs, and all around in the back yard. It looks like he definitely approves of our choice.

Tomorrow, the real fun starts. We have lots of volunteers to help us move to the new house. Its exciting to think this is our last night of apartment life! There is so much to do though… which is why we have decided that we definitely need a montage. I can’t wait until we are done with the moving part!

One Week!

I can’t believe we only have one week left before the move. It feels like we have hardly done any packing, and that is starting to worry me a little bit. I keep trying to tell myself we have done more that it looks like, given the amount of crap we have thrown out over the past couple weeks.

We didn’t get much packed last weekend, and decided we would try to make up for that by packing after work this past week… of course that didn’t happen. Monday we succeeded in packing most of one room… but then Tuesday we were pretty tired after work and I think we managed to get a box or two packed just so we wouldn’t feel bad. Wednesday was my birthday, so we went out to eat… then last night we were again very tired after work, and the martinis didn’t help matters much. I did manage to get a few boxes packed in the living room though. Tonight will also be a waste… Sean is going to meet up with a bunch of old work friends for dinner at Sunset Grille. I think I might stay in and try to get some more packing done though, because I have a feeling it will be almost 9 before he gets back from that… despite his assurances he will be home earlier.

Due to this lack of progress in packing, we will be trying to make up for that this weekend. The goal is to have everything we don’t need on a daily basis packed by Sunday night. I am feeling the pressure to get it done, so maybe we will actually succeed. We already reserved the truck for the 16th, and have several volunteers (thank you!!!) lined up for that day… so we can’t delay the move.

Moving stress aside… we are so excited! In one week we will be in our first house! We are counting down the days, and making plans for what we will do with the house. There are so many things to do once we are in the house, like picking out furniture and finding a paint color we can agree on to cover up the red walls. I can’t wait to start on these things!

We are also constantly day dreaming about using the deck. I really think we bought the deck and got a house as a bonus lol. Grilling out is going to be awesome on our new deck, and we can’t wait to have a cook out with all of our friends!

My New Toy

Wow, we are getting pretty slack about updating our blog. We meant to post last weekend, after we got back from Charlotte. So, allow me to catch you guys up on our exciting lives. (yes, that is sarcasm) I think I will break this up into two posts though, just because I ramble and this is bound to get very long. First I will tell you about my new toy, then I will let Sean make a post about Avenue Q later.

Last Friday Sean and I (isn’t he a good husband?) went to the Apple store at 6:30 in the morning for an iPhone. I was tired of waiting, and I decided it wasn’t so bad to sit outside on a nice morning for a couple hours and surf the net on my Mac while waiting in line for a neat new toy. We were about 15th in line, yet by the time the store opened at 8:30 the line stretched all the way down the side of the building. If you are familiar with the Southpoint store… we were by the window on the side, and the last person in line was down past the drink machines.

While in line we called AT&T… probably should have done that sooner. Evidently you can’t activate an iPhone at the Apple store (and you have to activate when you purchase) if you have any type of corporate discount… and it takes 4 hours to 10 days to remove it. Thankfully, once you have a ticket for a phone they will hold it until close of business though… and everything worked out. I went back and got the phone after work.

I love my new phone! My only complaints are that the battery life kind of sucks and there is no landscape option when typing e-mail. Other than that, I consider this the best gadget I have ever had… it makes me even more devoted to Apple, more inclined to try to convince everyone that they should also go Mac. Of course, I am not sure people that don’t already have a Mac and a MobileMe account are as tickled with the iPhone as I am.

I picked up a case and screen protector with the phone, thinking I would keep my pretty new phone in pristine condition while I waited from the invisibleSHIELD I ordered to arrive. Of course, Jack took care of that scratch-free idea by Monday. At least the scratches are minor. Contour’s clear case is a piece of crap by the way.

Anyhow, the iPhone turned out to be pretty helpful right from the start. Saturday I used it to help find our way to and from Chris & Diana’s new house (we helped them move) and it also helped Diana and me find our way when we went to pick up pizza for everyone. Then, Sunday it was helpful again when we went out of town for Avenue Q. It has also been pretty helpful in the days since… I have set it up with MS exchange so I can use it at work, and it has been great every time I need to find a phone number or address. Not to mention the apps are great when I get bored!

Yesterday my invisibleSHIELD arrived… I had ordered one for my Mac Book Pro and one for the iPhone. The iPhone shield proved to be a real pain to install, but the one for my Mac Book Pro was easy. I don’t really like the shield for my phone, I think I will take the front off and put the old static type back on it. The static one was much easier to slide my fingers across, and it seems to provide just as much protection. The back piece for the shield is nice, but very hard to align. The corners came out pretty poorly… I might have to try re-doing it.

If anyone is considering getting the shield for the Mac Book or other laptop, I would definitely recommend it. It is so much easier to keep hold of my laptop now when I carry it, and the shiny finish looks great. I am not crazy about the piece that goes along the wrist rest though… kind of reminds me of people that put plastic on their furniture. I am going to give it a chance though. The piece that covered the touch pad is already gone though… I got tired of that one real fast.

Sorry to bore you guys… but that is pretty much all that has happened for me lately! I got a new toy, then got stuff for the toy. Sean is going to cover Avenue Q (loved it!!) in a later post. Other than that, all that we are just trying to get ready for our move. We have barely started, but we suddenly find ourselves with only two weeks left… so we are feeling somewhat motivated to get it over and done with.

Well, I gotta go… time to go get my car from Ford and then we are supposed to go out to Maggiano’s with George and Wendell tonight.

I noticed we hadn’t posted in a while, so I thought I would write a quick update. Nothing has really happened lately… we have just been settling into our new roles at work. Sean seems happy with is new job, and I guess I am happy with my promotion. These days I am really busy, and the work day flies by. It goes by so fast that usually I am staying late just to get things done. Both of us are pretty wiped out when we get home lately.

Nothing new to report on the house really. The seller is supposed to be getting the things from the inspection taken care of… we are just waiting right now. We haven’t  even started packing yet; we have four weeks left now, so still plenty of time. I guess we should get started soon though.

I still don’t have my new iPhone either. I really don’t want to stand in line for one. Right now people are still lining up around the store every morning to wait for them. I noticed Southpoint showed them as being in  a (online) last night, so I gave them a call just a few minutes ago… and they of course confirmed they sold out immediately. Evidently if I want to go down there at dawn every morning and stand in line I can get one. I don’t think I want one that badly though. I will just be patient and get one when they actually have them in stock all day. It looks like it is going to be a birthday present after all at this point!

This weekend looks to be pretty full again. I had really hoped buying an iPhone would be part of the weekend events, but, well… I already went over that. We have tickets for Batman tomorrow, looking forward to that. We are also dog sitting again (only Lucy this time), and Sunday we are supposed to go hang out with Sean’s family. Maybe we can get motivated and start clearing out the junk we don’t want to take with us when we move too.

Next weekend we go to Charlotte for Avenue Q!
